Sure Remington Steele was cute, but Robert McCall? He was the real deal.
He was suave, he was brooding, he was an ex-Spy who could bring the tactical bad assitude.
And he knew how to wear a suit.

Before he was ever Robert McCall, he was Breaker Morant. (And Callan). And yes, he was in Hot Fuzz, too.
