I got Chuck for some of my Toby stuff. Urg. I'm torn because he has an interesting style, but I hate his damn books.

I don't mind his style, but he is a huge fan of the gross-out, something he's worked into every book I've read. It's a big part of his raw gritty whatever, and I just don't need it—in a lot of cases I find it distracts from the main thread of his stories. That said, I have read Guts more or less on a dare. It works in that case since grossing you out is the only thing that story is for.
