1) Where and when did you start RPing?
I started RPing when I was in college, but had always hung out with RPers through high school. This was back in the day and age of dice and paper.
2) Do you RP anywhere other than LJ?
We do LARPs occasionally, and costumed parties where the costume should come with a persona, but currently LJ fulfils the majority of my RP needs. (I would love to get a regular tabletop game going, but what with real life jobs and all, it's challenging.)
3) Do you play in any public games?
Yes.
4) Do you prefer first-person comment spam or prose logging?
Prose. But to be fair, I haven't had much exposure to First Person comments. I should check that out.
5) What was the first character you ever played?
I've played any number of generic fantasy type characters (usually fighter/mage, usually half-elf).
But the first headvoice that ever arose from RP was Khephera, believe it or not. I play her as an OC in MM nowadays, but she's originally from a tabletop game that started out with chargen in Aria: Canticle of the Monomyth (a system long lost to the ages), but ended up in Runequest.
The first serious fandom headvoice I had was Captain Picard.
6) Who's your favorite character to play now and why?
I don't really have a favourite? I bop back and forth between them because they each fulfil a different kind of need.
No, that's a lie. I think I'm enjoying Captain Wednesday the most these days. Every time she opens her eyes, I get to see another slice of her world and good goddamn that's a fascinating place.
7) What's the longest you've ever consistently played one character?
I do not know.
8) What's your biggest RP pet peeve?
People who expect me to do all the work and entertain them. RP is a two way street, and in order for an interaction to move forward, I need input from the other person in the scene. One word answers make my eye twitch. Work with me, people, and we can write an amazing scene. But I can't do it all by myself.
9) Do you read RP secrets and the RP anon meme?
No
10) If you've played in public before, do you prefer community based or journal based games?
I like the comm approach better, because it gives me a touchstone to come back to, plus it gives me a world of resources in the form of players who have been there before me. That aids in both etiquette and world building.
11) Would you rather play with someone who's very very IC but a mediocre writer or someone who isn't always IC (but not terrible) and a great writer?
Wow, that's a double edged sword. I think as long as the character is consistent to their writer's view, I would prefer someone who can push me to write better.
12) Do you have a "RP partner"?
I have discovered a fantastic, talented, gracious and wonderful group of people who tolerate my schizophrenic headspace. Each and every one of them holds a special place in my heart.
13) Do you ever stalk any casts, games, or players? Who?
I have been known to stalk. But the very nature of stalking is clandestine, so you'll just have to wonder, won't you?
14) In your opinion, which part of an app is the most difficult/annoying?
I love the app process because it makes me nail down a character. If I can't write 500-1000 words of who they are and why I want to play them, then there's not enough juice in the character for me to be apping in the first place. (I'm learning this, slowly.)
15) Are you one of those people who has to customize their character's journal layout and userinfo?
I try to, but I don't always have time. And really, when there's rp'ing to be done, layouts can wait.
16) What was your first game?
on LJ? I guess you could say sages_of_chaos
17) Are there any canons you avoid tagging characters from?
I generally tend to avoid anime, but if someone brought in a character that I'm familiar with and could write against, that wouldn't keep me from tagging.
18) Most memorable scene in any thread?
I still think River & Ryan's scene on the bridge in the Cloud Forest is probably my all time favourite.
19) Do you RP sex?
I do, though I prefer it to be character driven rather than graphic. I prefer to write erotica, not pr0n.
20) Do you play more males or females?
Let's do a roll call of active headvoices and see.
Female: Olga, Fiona, River, Vert, Khephera, Wednesday (6)
Male: Mills, Earl, Gecko, Abe, Vlad, Dillinger, Gilbert (7)
Pretty fairly balanced, I think. I go back and forth.
21) What *won't* you RP?
I don't do crack, sadly.
22) Dressing rooms: yes or no?
If they're sane and civilised, yes. This has not been my experience, so I tend to avoid.
23) Ever RPed a pairing?
I have one potential canon pairing on board, but no, I haven't had a chance to yet.
24) Favorite place to play: musebox, open posts, public games, private games?
Wherever the writing is good. (What's a musebox? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Are you even still reading? ~gets nose prints on the inside of your monitor~)
25) Talking RP with someone else who plays your character: fun or awkward?
Awkward for me. Because my headvoice is not their headvoice.
