(a) River had been stealing the Doctor's screwdriver and making her own adjustments long before he ever gave her one. River is wanted in several systems for art crimes, but in fact, she's been rescuing artifacts that previously disappeared into private collections. And in my head, River and the Doctor's relationship lasted many, many years. Possibly decades.

(b) She's cheeky and brilliant. She's passionate and fierce. And she never, ever, ever quits.

(c) Okay, that's a laundry list that's too long to even begin to go into.

(d) Millicanonically, Captain Richard Ryan. That's her happy ending. Before they met, of course, the Doctor. As for anyone else, they'd have to be incredibly self-assured to keep up with her.
