Hi

I need more Tom Robbins in my life.  Like --- yesterday.

Tell me something awesome?

I LOVED IT SO MUCH I CAN'T UNCAPSLOCK. OKAY NO I'LL TRY

I didn't see Shutter Island, so I can't comment there. It did feel very similar in some ways to Nolan's pre-Batman films, like Memento and Insomnia, both of which I loved, and I've been waiting for him to get back to that kind of movie (though I did love both his Batman films too).

I was very much caught up in things the whole time, so the pacing didn't bother me. I imagine on a rewatch there might be parts at the weirdass arctic hospital army base that drag a little. Same with the twists—Nolan's films aren't like Shyamalan's, they're not ruined if you know the twist, because they're more about how you get there.

Haha I think Mols (Mal?) was in a pretty unsubtle fridge… just a twisty one. While Ariadne's pushing of Cobb's issues did rather annoyingly set her up as "the girl and therefore the one who understands feeeeelings", I am fond of the fact that she was ultimately doing so for selfish reasons—saving her own ass—and not because she was looking to ~*~cure him with her loove~*~ or anything. I think a lot of the film was her hero's journey, which puts Cobb/Mal in the role of the villain; Ariadne ultimately saves them all by killing Mal and dragging Cillian Murphy's (I forget his character's name) ass out of limbo. So. I may be an Ariadne apologist.

Also anytime Arthur was on the screen I was lost in his eyyyees. ♥

So yeah I liked it.

Okay wait, so when you said "Hell, I even liked Cillian Murphy in it, and he annoys the ever living fuck out of me." were you talking about Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) or Fisher, the mark (actually Cillian Murphy)?

Also I used to watch Third Rock all the time and now I kind of want to look it up again.
